Remington Model 1 Rolling Block Sporting Rifle (Factory Buffalo Rifle) 44-77 Cal , Bore Excellent bright shiny strong rifling, Mech Exc tight and crisp action. Wood is Exc with no chips , cracks or repairs. Has an original 30” heavy I’d say a #4 full oct barrel with original standard sights and excellent Remington address markings. Barrel measures 1.165 at the breech and .985 at the muzzle . The receiver has some case color showing mostly mottled look of old case coloring. Also has excellent Patent date markings on the left side of the receiver and the serial number on the lower tang #9803 Matching 5 locations lower tang,barrel under forarm,buttplate,forearm wood and forearm cap. Plus assembly numbers match. Metal overall is very clean with the barrel having 75% original blue finish and the receiver having 20% case coloring. The buttplate has some fine pitting. Mfg’d 1868-1888 total production approximately 12,000 It’s a excellent rifle well taken care of Very Rare
