"Snakeman's Den" Collection: Back in the early to mid 1980's Colt made a very limited run (100 units) of Royal Blue/Gold finished Detective Specials for Bevery Hills fashion designer Bijan Pakzad ("House of Bijan"). The MSRP of these revolvers was nearly $10,000 at the time. Colts records indicate that the order was not completed and only about 30 units were actually delivered. The remaining parts were gathered to assemble as many complete revolvers as possible. Several were purchased by, or presented to, Colt employees but most of the remaining units were sold to firearms distributor Lew Horton. Horton sold these remaining Detective Specials in two seperate batches (5 in 1986 and 14 in 1991). This example is from the batch of 14 shipped in July of 1991 and is in pristene "New in Box" condition. It is complete with the original serial number matching box with all original contents (hang tag, Instruction Manual, Colt Authorized Repair Station List, "The Colt Companion", NRA application card, one year service agreement, "Congratulations" letter), Colt Archive Letter, and Lew Horton Letter confirming original configuration. This is one of only 19 sold by Lew Horton over a 5 year period. Of special interest is the person who ordered the Colt Archive Letter, none other than Mr. Gary Peer author of the book "The Colt Double-Action Snub Nose (Pocket) Revolver. This is a complete and scarce collector package that truely cannot be improved upon in any way.
