Description:
General Specs: Browning, Year 1972, 20 Gauge, 6lbs. 4oz., Chokes SK/SK, LOP 14 1/2", DAH 2 1/8", DAC 1 3/8"
Serial Number: 1783V72
The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs. Produced in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped, The Superposed is well known in the upland world here and abroad. Here we have the venerable Browning Superposed Grade 1 in 20ga. This example is a 1972 manufactured Superposed Lightning serial number 1783V72 weighing a comfortable 6lbs. 4oz. This lightning has 28” vent-rib barrels with mirror bore, 3” chambers and is choked SK/SK. With this being a 1972 gun there is no need to worry about the infamous salt debacle as this gun was made after Browning burned all the salt cured wood at the end of 1971.  AS A PRECAUTION, OUR GUNSMITH PERFORMED A SALT TEST ON THE WOOD AND IT SHOWED NEGATIVE...GUARANTEED NO SALT ON THIS GUN.  Also an important feature of this Superposed is the return to the long tang trigger guard, which is much preferred in the Browning Superposed world.  The gun has 99% blue remaining on its receiver while the engraving is crisp and clear, then gun has seen careful use and bears a few light handling marks on its stock but all on the surface not into the wood. It has superb wood to metal fit, perfect screws and grade 1 furniture with good figure. A great lightweight, fast pointing and handy gun to take to the sporting fields. Thanks for looking!
