Mossberg Model 144 - Bolt Action - .22 Target Rifle - Smooth walnut pistol grip style target stock with semi beavertail forend with adjustable hand stop, sling swivels and metal butt plate in excellent condition. Bolt Action with 10 round .22 LR. clip style magazine. 26 In. long bull target barrel with S-130 rear peep sight and a 4 selection front adj. hooded ramp sight. Wgt 8 lbs. Bore is clean and bright. Barrel and receiver retaining approx .85% bluing with a light patina. Stock and forend are in very good condition with minimal handling marks. ( See photo for stamp letters and initials.) Includes a new soft sleeve. The Mossberg model 44 US was a training rifle sold to the Army during WWII. Mossberg utilized that model and improved on it to create the first target rifle after WWII for competitive match shooting . Later models such as the 144LS featured the Lyman sights. This original version was manufactured from 1949 to 1954. Later versions of the 144LS continued until 1985. Great target bench shooter or addition to your collection.
