Description:
This Civil War ERA MODEL 1840 MEDICAL STAF OFFICERS SWORD, is in above good condition ,minty. This was produced in Klingental , by Coulaux & cie, which is marked on the blade, all the pieces have the three slashes and two dots , so all original .The blade has the U.S. AND E. PLURIBUS UNIUM WITH LOADS OF FLORAL AND SHIELDS PIKES FLAGS,ECT. ,no bends in the scabbard. The MS FOR MEDICAL STAFF IS SILVER AND STANDS OUT NICELY against the butternut copper scabbard the has ornate hangers and drag. The detail on the blade and the tip are amazing. The sword fits in and out of the scabbard just as it did out of the factory. One of the fanciest swords as well as rarest made, klingental ,was called the valley of blades, other then SOLINGEN they produced the most swords at this time. This would be and 1862 early in the war sword, they stopped marking these with COULAUX & CIE AFTER THAT. This has the original red felt blade buffer.CALL 859-533-5445 Even with the CIVIL WAR, very few of these were produced due to the lack of doctors.
