Here we have a very above average Jenks Carbine manufactured by N.P. Ames in Springfield MA. An estimated 4250 were said to be made. Dated 1845. All markings are nice and sharp. Both cartouches are visible and can be easily seen with the naked eye. Barrel retains 80 to 85% of it's original brown finish. Receiver and lockplate are showing some nice muted case colors. Your typical hairline crack is hardly noticeable on right sight of the wrist area (see pic). All brass furniture exhibits some original finish as well. This carbine functions as it should and would be a nice addition to someone's collection. Please feel free to ask questions.
