WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 2ND MOD SECOND MODEL .44-40 CAL. OCTAGON FULL MAGAZINE LEVER ACTION RIFLE CA. 1881. 24” heavy weight barrel measuring 1” at breech and no taper with lower flat beveled to accommodate the magazine tube. Serial numbered in the 72xxx range and all original and excellent. Factory records confirm shipped in July 1881 as “Octagon” and “Full length magazine”. Superb condition with approximately 95% original blue and dark case hardening on hammer. Original walnut stock and forend with the original factory 4 piece cleaning rod in butt trap. Perfect tight working order and excellent bright bore with very sharp rifling reflecting little use. Extra nice condition and 100% original in every respect. With Winchester Factory records letter on order.
