Description: Consignment item, one of many from a large collection of 1850s and 1860s percussion firearms. Please see my other listings for more items. Colt 1860 Army revolver, caliber .44 percussion, 8" round barrel, 6-shot rebated cylinder with Naval Engagement scene, walnut grips, brass trigger guard, steel backstrap, blued and case-hardened finish, serial number 39004, made early 1862. Several revolvers around this serial number were issued to the 1st Maryland, 1st Maine and 4th Kentucky Cavalry Units. CONDITION: All serialized parts have matching numbers in part or in whole (grip, trigger guard, frame, barrel, cylinder, wedge and cylinder pin). All blued & case hardened parts have turned a smooth, pleasing milk chocolate patina, with the brass trigger guard an uncleaned, mild ochre color. All cylinder nipples are original and the cylinder retains 50% of the scene. Several components have sub-inspector initials, with the left grip having the final inspection cartouche "OWA" for Oliver Ainsworth, famous for his inspections on the early Colt Single Action Army revolvers. The action functions as it should, locking solidly at both half- and full-cock, indexing correctly each time. Original walnut grips show light scratches and dings, with a thin 1" loss on the right rear grip. Bore is very good. Overall Grades NRA Antique Very Good and is a solid, early, all-original 1860 Army revolver that certainly fought some Civil War battles. TERMS: No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii. Sales to California and New York will only be shipped to an FFL dealer. All others require a valid driver's license or other proof of adult age and will ship directly to your residence or workplace. Buyer pays $35 for shipping and tracking by USPS Priority Mail.
