Description: This Colt Single Action Army revolver was shipped to Krakauer, Zork & Moye Company, El Paso, Texas, February 28, 1906, with nine other guns (serial #275264). It is a Colt Frontier Six Shooter meaning the caliber is .44 WCF or .44-40. It is fit with an old pair of stag grips that look as if they were made for it. The gun is in very good condition mechanically with all four clicks and three functioning notches. There is little or thin original finish, but surfaces have a minimum if rust pitting – just normal wear and tear. The bore is probably a 6 on a scale of 10, not shiny but strong rifling, and some scattered pitting mostly toward the breech. The bad news for collectors is that it’s a parts gun. The back strap has been replaced with one manufactured in 1926. It has a 7.5” barrel rather than the 4.75” as originally shipped, according to the letter. And, the front of the ejector rod housing is a little funky, showing some sort of repair or straightening at the muzzle end. Just in front of the ejector rod head on the underneath side, one can see a bit of brass color which is probably from being brazed. None of these flaws detract from the overall look of the Colt, and everything functions properly. I guess these flaws just show the gun was used enough to need some fixing at some point. The holster housing the Colt is a turn of the century medium leather stamp-carved single loop version in very good condition. There is no maker mark. Shipping is $75.00, Priority, insured.
