Description:
This is an untouched, very nice Civil War imported M1849 Austrian Rifle. These rifles saw service mostly out west with units in Missouri, Minnesota, and even Colorado. This rifle remains in very good condition and appears unmessed with. The original rear sight and ramrod are present and are most often missing on these. The brass lock side plate and barrel band are marked "89". The ramrod is marked "29 / 3". The brass butt plate has an interesting roman numeral "XII" stamped on it. The rear of the lock plate has the remnanats of the Austrian double headed eagle. The top of the barrel at the breech area is marked "FERDFRUHWIRTH". Overall the rifle is in great condition. The stock has only minor handling dings. The barrel has a little corrosion around the bolster area but otherwise retains a nice mottled brown coloration. The bore while dark displays deep rifing. The lock holds on both cocks and the hammer falls when the trigger is squeeezed. This is about as nice as you will find one of these especially being all original and its priced below $1000 and $1000 below dealer prices! . Layaways considered.
