SALE PENDING..........Professionally Restored Colt Single Action Army to be a Nettleton Inspected Cavalry Revolver. .45 Long Colt. 7.5" barrel length. SN: 49934. (Mfg. Ca 1879) Blued metal finish with color casehardened frame and hammer, fire blued cylinder, and replaced one piece polished walnut grips. Single-action loading gate revolver mounting a six-shot cylinder and a black powder frame with screw retained cylinder pin. Item mounts a kidney shaped ejector rod head and black powder rifling to the barrel. The left frame has been remarked with a three-line patent mark reads PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871/" JULY. 22. 72/" JAN. 19. 75 followed by a US stamp applied during the revolver's restoration. The US mark, barrel address, and patent marks appear to be engraved rather than stamped. The barrel has been marked with the single line barrel address reading -COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.-. The triggerguard and rear gripstrap both feature an HN stamping for inspector Henry Nettleton that was applied during restoration. The grips are modern production with no inspection stamps or marks applied to complete the representation. The serial numbers match on major components with the loading gate showing an assembly number of 0691.
Condition:
Extremely Fine as Restored. The bore is lightly Frosty with some light pitting. The blued finish is flaking on the sight blade and on the muzzle end of the barrel. There are further flecked losses along both gripstraps with signs of patina forming in losses. Casehardening remains strong with some scattered light scratches. The fire blue colored cylinder displays a pattern of freckled patina forming at the rear cylinder with a spot of brown patina forming over the edge of one chamber. The grips display some scattered light scratches The action displays good timing with 4 click action.....
