Taylors & Company 1865 Spencer Saddle Ring Carbine chambered in .44 Russian. When Spencer originally produced a carbine, it was different from any other firearm because it was accurate, fired rapidly, had a long effective range, and held seven metallic cartridges so they weren't affected by moisture. It could be fired more rapidly than a Colt®-style revolver and reloaded in one-tenth the time. The Spencer carbine model features a case hardened steel frame and lock, blued & case hardened parts, one barrel band retained by a band spring in the stock, butt stock magazine tube, rear ladder sight, fixed front blade sight, round barrel, a rear swivel for a sling.
