Description:
Serial #28766, .22 LR, 6 inch barrel with a very good bore with showing scattered areas of light pitting and oxidation with evident rifling. This is the No. 35 Offhand Target Pistol manufactured from 1907-1916 by J. Stevens A. & T. Company in Chicopee Falls, Mass.. The barrel has mostly toned to a plum-brown patina showing some scattered light dings or tool marks around the sight dovetails, a few areas of silvering from some sort of contaminant and scattered streaks of original blue. The frame and trigger guard retains about 90% original nickel finish showing some flaking along the high edges and backstrap to gray-brown patina. The buttcap appears to have been neatly reprofiled and is not as flared as-is typically seen. The smooth walnut grips remain in very good condition with lightly flaking varnish and handling marks. The rear sight is an old simple replacement u-notch while the front is a plain bead. Barrel-to-frame fit is very good and the action seems to function well mechanically. FFL or C&R
