Description:
RARE CIVIL WAR Antique NEPPERHAN Fire Arms .31 Percussion POCKET Revolver

SCARCE 5-Shot Made in the Early 1860s

Here we present an antique Nepperhan Fire Arms Company Percussion Pocket Revolver made circa the early 1860s in Yonkers, New York with a total of less than 5,000 manufactured. These were very scarce and surely saw use on the battlefield, on the home front and in the West. These were very similar to the Manhattan 1st Model Pocket Revolvers and were some of the smallest, handiest pocket revolvers of the time.

According to “The Flayderman’s Guide To Antique Firearms”, the Nepperhan Fire Arms Company was established in Yonkers, New York. During the early 1860s, it produced around 5,000 .31 caliber 5-shot pocket revolvers. The barrel length varied from 3-1/2 to 6 inches, with the standard being 4-1/4 inches. They were blued case-hardened with walnut grips out of the factory. The barrel is marked “NEPPERHAN/FIRE ARMS CO”. This one was made early in the production run, with later revolvers also being stamped “YONKERS NEW YORK”. This little revolver would have done a fine job as a self-defense handgun for the average citizen in 19th Century America, along with privately purchased battlefield use during the Civil War!

The overall condition is good. Dark, smooth, brown patina. Legible markings. The action is strong. Good bore for its age. Both grips are replacements. Three uniform hash marks are present on the butt end of the backstrap.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 4-1/8 inches.

Caliber: .31 Percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
