Description:
For your consideration, a Springfield M1 Garand chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Dubbed by General Patton as "the greatest battle implement ever devised," the M1 Garand faithfully saw the US through the Second World War and Korea and served many other forces abroad beyond. The bolt and barrel are likewise of Springfield manufacture. Rear sight assembly is of the lock bar type. The receiver and barrel both date to January of 1944. Stock markings consist of a (P) proof mark, crossed cannons Ordnance Dept. device, and the boxed [S.A. GAW] cartouche of Springfield Armory Inspector, Lt. Col. George A. Woody. .30-06 Springfield
