A really nice, early example made during the middle of the Indian Wars, especially in the southwestern U.S. This one has a light 1880 cartouche in the wrist as well as the circle P cartouche behind the lower tang. All markings are sharp and clear along with the correctly 1873 dated breech block. The hammer and lock plate retain most of the inky-blue case hardening and the barrel and even the barrel band show fine deep blue overall. Has the correct "C" for carbine rear sight. Mottled breech block and upper tang. Good blue on the trigger guard tangs and on much of the butt plate which has the correct trap for cleaning rods. Fine wood with only normal light handling marks. Excellent bright bore. One of the most attractive examples I've seen in a while and much better than usually encountered.
