Description:
This 1974 satin nickel finish semi-automatic pistol is a Colt Combat Commander chambered in .45 Auto. It has a short serrated fixed blade front sight, a dovetailed square notch blade rear sight, rear slide serrations, a grooved trigger, a grip safety, and a left-side thumb safety lever. The satin nickel finish is in generally good condition, showing some light handling marks throughout. The high gloss finish wooden silver rampant Colt emblem grips are in excellent condition. The left side of the slide is marked "COMBAT / COMMANDER", "COLT", "AUTOMATIC / CALIBER .45" and with a Rampant Colt logo. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT'S COMBAT COMMANDER". The right side of the frame is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A." and "70SC29285". The barrel at the port is marked "COLT .45 AUTO". The magazine floorplate is marked "COLT / 45. AUTO." Introduced by Colt as a lighter-weight version of the 1911, the smaller size of the Commander was popular, and soon they were offered in a number of variations including different frame materials and calibers. This less than common satin nickel finish firearm would make a fantastic defensive pistol, but it would also make a Colt collector very happy. .45 ACP
