Chambered in powerful 444 Marlin these were the lst "Modern" lever guns capable of handing game up to and including the biggest bear, moose and elk.These lst. generation 444's with 24" barrel and straight monte carlo comb stocked variations are the most intersting and desirable of all the many Marlin 444 variations made since; produced in this configuratrion from appros 1966 to 72. This one with the emblem on the stock commorates the 90th anniversary of this once fine Connecticut based company but is otherwise identical to those others made during the same period (1966 to 1972 approx)
This particular rifle is the best example of the many we've had over the last 10 or 15 years and is in approx perfect collector condition.
The scope is an import with no value but it has a good period correct Weaver base and rings.
This spectacular example seems to have been in a time capsule (spent its life well protected in a safe)
