This Eben T. Starr Derringer is a rare and historically significant firearm. It bears the serial number 23, making it an early and valuable piece. It was manufactured by Merrill Patent Firearms Manufacturing in Baltimore, Maryland, and played a role in the American Civil War. Condition: This Deringer features a brass frame with a side-mounted hammer and a tip-up barrel. Starr’s patent information is on the left side of the gun. The barrel, frame and each grip panel are all marked “23” for the serial number. The is in overall very good condition. The 2 ¾” iron barrel and hammer have a dark plum patina with traces of the original bluing. The brass frame is in very good condition. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in very nice condition with minor wear and handing marks. Very good bore with some minor spot pitting and still showing very strong rifling. The action works excellent in half and full cook position.
