Description:
General Specs: Colt, Year 1923, .45, 37oz., 5 1/2" Barrel
Serial Number: 344484
This is a FACTORY ORIGINAL, UNTOUCHED, 80% CONDITION first generation Colt Single Action Army (SAA) Revolver in .45 Colt caliber.  Also known as the Model of 1873 or the Colt Peacemaker, this Colt revolver was the mainstay of the Western Frontier.  This Colt, sn344484 shipped in 1923, is in fine factory original condition, untouched by the restorer’s hands, still retaining 65% fading factory case color, about 70% factory blue on the 5 ½ inch barrel with a fine bore, sharp rifling (BORE IS A 8.5 OUT OF 10), clear sharp lettering and stampings, NEAR PERFECT NITER BLUE original screws, hard rubber grips original, a perfect fit to the frame, with no wear to the checkering and serial numbered to the gun, all matching serial numbers…just a delightful, honest example of a fine Colt from the early 20th century.  A factory letter documenting the gun is included in the photos and will accompany the gun upon sale (a $200 value).  The .45 Colt was and is the most desirable caliber for Colt SAA revolvers.  The ammunition is readily available.  Just imagine where this gun has been, and the stories it could tell!  The gun was shipped to St. Louis, Missouri, the gateway to the West, in the waning days when there were still cowboys and drifters gambling in the saloon and gunfighting in the streets.  The mechanics of the gun are excellent, with the timing of the action perfect and no play in the cylinder when cocked, four clicks still crisp. OUR PHOTOS, INCLUDING VIEWS SHOWING THE DISASSEMBLED PARTS, SERIAL NUMBERS, AND ASSEMBLY NUMBERS, ALLOW YOU TO CLEARLY SEE WHAT YOU ARE BUYING.  Vintage Firearms, Inc. provides such thorough photos and descriptions to help the buyer make the best choice when spending significant money.  Why would you buy something that you can’t really see, long distance, when you can have confidence in your purchase by buying from us?  We are offering this fine Colt at less than retail value so the new owner will have instant equity when buying this piece of history.  Colt SAA revolvers in fine, unmolested condition are few and far between and continue to increase in value as you enjoy having them as tangible assets in your estate portfolio.  Don’t hesitate on this one…it won’t last long!  Thanks for looking!
