Payment Types Accepted: Personal check, bank check, postal money order, Zelle, Venmo, or Cash App Description: Antique BROWN MANUFACTURING Co. .41 Rimfire “SOUTHERNER” Deringer Serial # 1332 Description: Antique Brown Manufacturing Company and Merrimack Arms Company , Newburyport, Massachusetts. “Southerner”  Deringer .  made 1866-1873 Total quantity produced estimated at 16,500 .41 Rimfire  with a 2 ½” octagon barrel that pivots sideways to load. Very nice bore with some light pin-prick pitting from black powder use but still showing strong rifling. Extractor is present  under the barrel . The barrel bluing is all but gone, leaving the metal finish an attractive gun metal gray. Brass frame is in nice condition with minimum wear and handling marks. Barrel markings are somewhat legible with serial numbers located on the bottom of the barrel and butt frame. 2 piece walnut grips are in very good condition still retaining most of the original varnish with minor wear and handling marks.  The action appears to work well with a strong hammer spring. Doesn’t appear to have a half-cock position but full-cock position works very good. Please judge the overall appearance and condition from the photos and text. This pistol was designed like many in its day to be simple, small and concealable for self-defense. Most other manufacturers produced  their single shots in .22 and .32 RF.    Brown’s “Southerner” was made in the bigger caliber, .41 rimfire to compete with National, Colt,  and Remington.
