Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “-WINCHESTER MODEL 70 XTR 25-06 REM.- / -MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-”. The top of the barrel is marked an ovalled “WP” proof. The left side of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER”. The right side of the receiver at the chamber is marked “G1983453”.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut with a pistol grip, monte-carlo comb with a cheekpiece, recoil lug, highly desirable red Winchester recoil pad, and sling studs front and rear. The stock is clean and in excellent condition and the checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. Couple small marks from a sling near the swivel. Overall, the gun is in Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: The finish is original and in excellent condition with 98+ bluing remaining.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains 98% of its metal finish. There are only light handling marks and minor operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This rifle employs a heavily jeweld push feed bolt. The bolt ball is checkered mid ball. The safety is mounted at the back of the bolt on the right side. It has three positions. Pushed all the way forwards, the safety is off and ready to fire. In the middle position, the safety blocks the trigger, but allows the bolt to be opened for loading and unloading. In the rear position, the safety blocks the trigger and the bolt.
Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 70 XTR Sporter rifle chambered in .25-06 Remington produced in 1990. It has a 24” barrel, jeweled bolt with a knurled knob, and a checkered walnut stock. The rifle is in Excellent condition with 98% of its metal finish remaining, a great bore, and strong mechanics. This is a classic American rifle in a great hunting caliber. This rifle will be at home on your next target shooting or hunting outing. It has been very lighty used.
