Description:

Brevette Marked 12mm LeFacheaux Pinfire Revolver Model 1854 Civil War ERA

Attractive nice looking gun. This is an original Civil War era 12mm pinfire revolver.
6-¼”barrel with a 6 shot cylinder. A trigger guard with spur commonly used by the military.  The barrel is full size with a dove tail front sight and a hammer notched rear sight.  The only thing missing on this gun is the Loading gate  from the right side of the barrel. The pistol has the spur style trigger guard similar to the LeMat revolver.   The side of the barrel has the clear LeFacheaux Brevette maker's mark. On the left hand side of the frame it has the serial number of 34777 stamped into the metal.
This is a great antique looking large frame, full size pinfire revolver that could have been used by either side of the Civil War.
This number is in the serial number range of ones known to have been brought over the the US during the Civil War. France sold these to the union army who purchased thousands of these revolvers. It was also known that France supplied an unknown number to the Confederate army as well.

Condition:  Nice bore with minor spot pitting from black powder use and still showing strong rifling. The single action mechanics of the gun works smoothly in half and full-cock position.  The metal parts of the gun have a nice medium tone antique  patina. On the bottom of the right receiver it appears to have a few notches carved into the metal. Maybe it was attributed to the demise of some unfortunate individual? Would really be wonderful to know the history behind some of these war time revolvers. The two piece walnut grips are in very good condition with minor wear and handling marks.  On the bottom of the butt plate there is a lanyard ring attached.

This is an outstanding  piece of European design and an addition to American history. It is a rare find and a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike. It would make a perfect addition to any antique firearm collection or for those who appreciate a classic piece of history.

This is an antique and no FFL required. Free shipping is included.
