Description:
Beautiful early Savage 99-F Featherweight in .308 Winchester! This gun has the lightweight 22” barrel and was made in 1959, according to my research. It’s a very desirable variation of the famous Model 99 in an extremely versatile caliber. There is no box or paperwork with this rifle.
The gun is in outstanding original condition considering that it’s 64 years old. The bluing is strong overall and is exceptionally nice. The barrel doesn’t have any blemishes that I can see. The color on the lever is clearly visible. The bore is perfect to the naked eye but I have not seen it through a borescope. The perfect screw slots seem to indicate that the gun has never been “messed with” or opened up and it has the correct original open sights. This model also has the rotary magazine with cartridge counter. The rifle was factory drilled and tapped as can be determined by the “Savage Model 99” stamp being offset to the left side on the top of the receiver.
The stock and forend are unaltered other than the addition of sling swivel studs, which look professionally installed. I believe the wood finish to be original and there are no signs of sanding or oil having been added. Sold to Indiana Buyer Pending Receipt of Funds
