Genuine and very rare Pre 64 Model 70 standard weight SUPER GRADE in .243 Win. caliber with only 291 units ever made! S/N 416402 with matching bolt made in 1957.
Very strong bluing throughout showing 98%. The wood is nearly as nice over most, however does have some small but mentionable dings in the buttstock. They are not distracting to me during normal handling but I have tipped them into unfavorable light and zoomed in to clearly show. The special post-1954 SG features that confirm the authenticity of this rare caliber Super Grade include: A deluxe stock with raised MC cheekpiece, complex wrap around checkering, and contrasting foreend tip, 24" original RUST blued barrel, original Redfield 255 full length gold bead front sight, Super Grade stamped floorplate, underbarrel is stamped SUPER, proper robust detachable sling swivels, correctly jeweled action components with bolt properly serialized on top of the jeweling, etc. The bore and mechanics are excellent and show little actual use.
A very respectable placeholder for an advanced 70 collector looking to fill this frequent void.
