Description:
Springfield Armory produced M1 Garand semiautomatic rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. Introduced into US military service in 1936, it served honorably through the Second World War and the Korean War before being replaced after the adoption of the M14 in 1956. After adoption of the M14, the US Navy contracted for modified M1 Garands chambered for the new 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge, known officially as the MK 2 MOD 0 rifle. This rifle's features include a Springfield Armory receiver with serial number (3415352) suggesting that it was produced in December 1944 and a Springfield 7.62mm NATO barrel date stamped 1965.
