Synopsis: Allen & Thurber Pepperbox, #164, ANTIQUE, 0-102 Description: Standard configuation Allen& Thurber Pepperbox and .31 caliber with six smooth-bore barrels, exterior marked "PATENT 1837 CAST-STEEL/ALLEN & THURBER WORCESTER". Left side of hammer "ALLEN'S PATENT". SN marked inside trigger guard. Frame with light engraving. Smooth varnished panels secured with a single screw. Condition: Fair-Good with barrel tube toned to an etched grey-brown. Commensurate fading of frame. Grips, retaining most varnish,with expected oil staining and handling marks. Correct manual mechanics, each barrel cycling properly. An unusal pistol, especially popular during the CA gold rush of the early-mid 19th Century.
