*** SOLD *** Handsome Beretta S3 EELL / SO5(Garcia Import) 12 Gauge Sidelock shotgun profusely engraved and signed by Master Engraver G. Bertasi with pierced toplever and inlaid gold crown. 12 gauge with automatic ejectors and single selective trigger. A true sidelock shotgun made in 1970 and weighs 7lb 11oz. Beautiful to behold, great condition, and handles like a dream.
The 28” barrels are made of Boehler Antinit Steel and are chambered for 2-3/4” shotshells. They are topped by a raised ventilated rib that tapers from 9mm at the breech to 6mm at the muzzles. It has a white front and a silver middle bead. The barrels are ported and come with four Briley choke tubes – 2-Skeet, IC and Full. The bores of both barrels measure 0.725” and are marked 1.400kg in weight.
The custom stock with adjustable comb is made of nicely figured European walnut and has a pistol grip cap. The finish is in very good condition and the checkering is crisp. It has neutral cast and palm swells on both sides. It measures 1-5/8” along the comb when adjusted to the lowest position. The comb may also be adjusted left or right for perfect eye placement. Length of pull is 14-3/8” including a 3/4” recoil pad.
SPECIAL NOTE: Long before Beretta established a strong physical presence in the US market their guns were imported by Garcia Corporation. During this period the Beretta S3 EELL was rebadged as the SO5 in the US. Sometime in the mid-eighties after the relationship between Beretta and Garcia was dissolved Beretta re-introduced the SO5 as a replacement for the plainer tournament model SO4. The current SO5 is built on a larger, heavier action and frankly, does not handle nearly as well as this first generation SO5/SO3 EELL.
This is a great opportunity to own and shoot a modern classic – “The flagship shotgun of the Beretta line”. Signed hand engraving today is out of reach for most shooters and this is indeed a very nice handling shotgun with a professionally installed adjustable comb. A rare chance to purchase an SO3 EELL at a great price.
