Description:
A Scarce & Early Mexican War And Civil War Used U.S. Navy Issued Ames Model 1842 Percussion Pistol Dated 1844 In Nice Untouched Condition. All original and complete. The pistol has nice metal & markings. The lock is marked in the center, "N.P. AMES/SPRINGFIELD/MASS." and "U.S.N./1844" at the rear. The barrel is marked, "U.S.N./1844/N.W.P./P" on the top opposite the lock. All of the metal on the pistol has a light to dark natural patina on it. All the brass hardware is original and untouched. The original wood on it is nice throughout showing some natural wear from use in a couple of spots. There are two visible U.S. Inspectors Cartouches on the backside opposite the lock. It has a tight action and very good bore. Only 2,000 of this model were made. This One Was In Both The Mexican War & Civil War And Would Make A Nice Addition To Any Collection!
