Description:
I have a very unique/rare Colt SAA 5 1/2 in 44/40 that letters from Colt shipping directly to Winchester. Im offering the pair sold together or separately. This Colt may have played a roll in future possibilities of Winchester developing its own SAA or DA. Additionally the idea of having a Colt SAA pistol and a Winchester model 1873 in the same caliber made cowboying a much easier job!! The colt is all matching numbers, walnut grips, and lots of aged patina. Surprisingly the bore is very good 8/10 which leads me to believe it was studied more than used. The Winchester 1873 in 44 cal is in great condition. The 24" barrel retains a large amount of blueing, the action is tight and levers appropriately, and the address is very visible. The Winchester was manufactured in 1888. Both would make a great pair of 44 cal guns produced by the 2 masters of firearm production. I have a 7 page research paper of know Colt/Winchester history and the Colt factory letter showing the shipment to Winchester
