This 328 page book will provide the reader with: (1) an appreciation for the unprescedented innovation that in America’s firearm’s industry that ocurred in the Antebellum Period and the war that followed, (2) an assessment of the North and South’s initial ability and ongoing efforts to arm it’s troops, and (3) the most comprehensive and detailed review of the actual weapons that saw service in America’s Civil War.
The review of the weapons will include a discussion of their origins, effectiveness and extent of use for most of the weapons examined, accompanied by over 400 high-definition color pictures of the actual weapons.
Drawing on recent information and research, a number of myths and misconceptions regarding the source and use of these weapons will also be addressed, concluding with a review of America’s Post Civil War firearms trade.
