The Type 99 is one of the most commonly found Japanese military rifles with approximately 2.5 million made. This early production Type 99s have a cupped, metal buttplate to protect the toe from chipping. Additionally, the bottom half of the stock was sawn off and reattached to alter the angle of the wood grain further strengthening the toe. As with many of these the anti aircraft wings are missing as well as the Mum being ground off. The front sight is also loose and will need to be re-soldered.
