Inland Division M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine Serial Number:  5491372 2nd series production run Assembly Range:  May 1944 – December 1944. Fully operational with a bright bore and strong rifling.  No Upgrade or rebuild marks.  Based on its condition, the rifle was likely unissued. Barrel & Receiver Group Barrel – Correct Inland Div. General Motors stamped 5-44 with production progression stamps and a ribbed exterior finish. Receiver – Correct Inland Type II, 3rd Block made between serial numbers 4,879,526 – 5,549,821 Recoil Spring Guide – Correct Late model with long point at the end Slide Spring Stop – Correct Early Type I that was used up to May/June of 1944 Barrel Skirt – Correct Short style Gas Cylinder – Correct swagged style with I-I stamped on the front. Barrel Band – Correct Type I with removable screw Swivel – Correct late wide style, unstamped Rear Sight – Correct Type I flip sight with “P” stamp on the left of the base. Front Sight – Correct Inside bevel style type I-A with expected “N” stamped behind sight. Bolt – Correct Type III, stamped “O.I.” and “3” on the bottom.
