This is NOT your normal M1A1 Paratrooper!  100% correct orginal parts confirming that this rifle remains as it was orginally assembled in 1944.  High grade condition.  Below is a detailed summary of its parts and corresponding stamps.

Inland Division M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine
  • Serial Number:  5491372
  • 2nd series production run
  • Assembly Range:  May 1944 – December 1944.
  • Fully operational with a bright bore and strong rifling.  No Upgrade or rebuild marks.  Based on its condition, the rifle was likely unissued.
Barrel & Receiver Group
  • Barrel – Correct Inland Div. General Motors stamped 5-44 with production progression stamps and a ribbed exterior finish.
  • Receiver – Correct Inland Type II, 3rd Block made between serial numbers 4,879,526 – 5,549,821
  • Recoil Spring Guide – Correct Late model with long point at the end
  • Slide Spring Stop – Correct Early Type I that was used up to May/June of 1944
  • Barrel Skirt – Correct Short style
  • Gas Cylinder – Correct swagged style with I-I stamped on the front.
  • Barrel Band – Correct Type I with removable screw
  • Swivel – Correct late wide style, unstamped
  • Rear Sight – Correct Type I flip sight with “P” stamp on the left of the base.
  • Front Sight – Correct Inside bevel style type I-A with expected “N” stamped behind sight.
  • Bolt – Correct Type III, stamped “O.I.” and “3” on the bottom.
  • Slide – Correct Tye IV (6 O Clock) style with “PI” stamped in the inside well and the number “1” marked on the bottom.
Trigger Housing Group
  • Housing – Correct Type III with “Inland” stamped vertically on the right side and with a ribbed magazine wall.
  • Hammer – Correct Type III with I-I stamped on the left side
  • Magazine Catch – Correct Type IV with “EI” marked on the outside and “M” marked on the release button.
  • Safety – Correct Type III
Stock Group
  • Low Wood – “IO” correctly marked on inner right corner of the slide well
  • Pistol Grip – Correct “Slim Jim” marked with RI over 3 on the bottom along with the correct cartouche marked on the outer right side
  • Hand Guard – Correct 4 rivet shallow grove marked “IO” on the inner left side
  • Wire Stock – Correct dark brown leather with three solid steel rivets
  • Butt Plate – Correctly marked “B257614” with wagon wheel stamp and casting number “1”
