This is an original Indian War U.S. No. 1 Hanger Cartridge Box for .50-70 Cartridge. This cartridge was designed to hold 24 metallic, .50-70 cartridges. The retention strap and belt strap are intact and supple. The box has 24 canvas bullet loops and a bulged out compartment, on the right side of the box, to hold the M1886 combination gun tool. Also included is the U.S. Model 1874 Waist belt with U.S. Buckle.
