A rare American Remington .41 rim-fire single shot derringer or Vest pocket pistol. Circa 1865-1880. The top of the frame engraved "REMINGTON'S ILION. N.Y PATD. OCT.1.1861. NOV. 15. 1864. The "REMINGTON'S" barrel address and patent dates remain crisp and clear. The smooth rosewood grips in our opinion remain in near excellent condition having darkened from the years and showing just a few light dings and handling marks.
Very nice condition, this unusual Remington pistol is a single shot pistol with 4 inch part octagon barrel in caliber 41 Rim Fire invented by William H. Elliot. Bore has very visible rifling featuring a hammer and breech block. This design was also known as the Saw Handle Derringer. A total of only 15,000 of these single shot pistols were produced between 1865 and 1880. Overall le
Overall length of 5.5 inches. The overall condition is good. The action is strong and in good working order. The metal finish is in good condition with slight muzzle wear. Showing some minor signs of use and wear during its working life.
