Payment Types Accepted: Visa, MC, Discover, Money Orders, Personal checks Description: Remington Vest Pocket Saw Handle Derringer in .22 cal Caliber: .22 Cal Rim Fire Barrel: 3.25” Bore Condition: Rifled with light pitting This is an early Remington Vest Pocket Pistol in .22 caliber also known as a Saw Handle Derringer in their number 1 frame. Barrel is marked "Remington's Ilion, N.Y. Patent Oct. 1, 1861". This was a Patent from Oct. 1, 1861 and was available for the Civil War period and made right up to the late 1880's. Per Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms, the No. 1 size was manufactured between 1865 and 1888 with an estimated total production of 17,000 to 20,000. This was a novel design with the hammer also acting as a breech block. This derringer is most definitely a conversation piece. S/N C115. This will be a nice addition for any collector. This firearm is in FAIR to GOOD condition and has a 3.25" barrel with a fair to good bore with some pitting. The wood grips are in good condition. Overall length of 4 inches. The action is crisp and in good working order. This "saw handle" Remington single-shot pistol is in our opinion overall fair to good condition displaying the majority of its original nickel finish. Bottom of Form No FFL required, antique firearm. This pistol is an antique item and sold as a collector’s item.
