Description:
Sako M28 chambered in 7.62x53R. The Model 28 is a reworked version of the Russian Mosin_Nagant Model 1891. The receiver and magazine of the 1891 were retained. The changes include a shorter-length heavy-weight barrel, modified sights, modified bolt, cut down stock, improved trigger design, and new barrel bands and nose caps. This rifle has a Tikkakoski barrel. The M28 was manufactured between 1928-32 and more than 30,000 were made. The 7.62×53mmR cartridge is a slightly modified variation of the Russian 7.62×54mmR. Reportedly, well known Finnish sniper Simo Häyhä used the Sako M28. None
