Description:
This is an original U.S. Cavalry M-1885 "Trapdoor Springfield" Carbine Boot Scabbard designed to be attached to the McClellan saddle. This boot was intended to secure the Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield or .50-70 Sharps Carbine within close reach of the rider.
This Model 1885 scabbard is nicely marked Rock Island Arsenal. The boot is in untouched condition. These were manufactured in the mid -1880s through the 1890s. The boot measures 13" long x 5 3/4 " wide x 3" wide.
