Chambered for the 45-60 Winchester Center Fire (WCF) Mfg in September 1882 it recently celebrated its 141st birthday, and is in near mint condition With the rifle are 3 letters to help chronicle its life history. It appears to have been owned by the Olin Corporation (Parent company of Winchester) until being donated to the Cody Firearms Museum in 1946. In 1991 the museum sold the rifle to raise money for the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Evidently it was purchased by a Mr. Vince McMahon and later acquired in 1992 by Mr Hank Williams Jr. as shown in the letters. When received by the Cody Museum from The Olin Corporation the barrel had been changed from the original 30" octagonal to a 28" round barrel, likely due to its use for ballistic testing as written in the museum letter. Obviously this beautiful rifle has been pampered to retain virtually all the original bright bluing with minimal handling marks on both wood and metal. Only the buttplate shows any degree of wear. Special features are the set trigger and 1/2 magazine or "button mag". Fortunately the bore matches the condition of the exterior with a bright appearance and no signs of corrosion. This is truely a one of a kind Winchester with tremendous provenance and history, a great addition to any collection. As with all Model 1876 rifles it is classified as an antique so it will not need to ship to an FFL dealer. The buyer will receive the original letters.
