NSN, circa 1857, .69 caliber, 42"" round smooth bore barrel. Barrel and other iron parts are a brown/ plum patina with surface oxidation visible. Lock plate is marked "" Remington's/Ilion, N.Y./1857/U.S."" Stock is good with minor handling wear visible, two handsome cartouches are visible. Action holds at half and full cock, spring is tight. 20,000 were made and saw service at the beginning of the Civil War. CONSIGNMENT
