Description:
Serial #359008, .22 S,L, LR, 25 inch octagonal barrel with a fine, dark lightly pitted bore with moderate rifling that will still spin a bullet. This is the Model 97 manufactured between 1905 and 1922 as indicated with the model designation on the tang. In fine plus overall condition the barrel retains perhaps 75-80% of the original finish which is now mostly turned plum-brown with silvering on the high edges with scattered scratches and tiny impact marks. The receiver shows a mottled pewter gray with light scratches and impact marks. The walnut stock is solid with slight shrinkage around the tang with some small missing chunks of wood and some scattered contusions overall. Mechanically it functions properly with a very smooth action and nice trigger. A very nice Model 97 that would be a great candidate for a full cosmetic restoration.
