Synopsis: Stunning Early Mauser C96 Flatside Broomhandle with Correct Stock Description: This early Mauser C96 Flatside features a fixed front sight, modified to adopt a bead profile, and a pinned rear sight graduated 1-10. It has a long extractor, a single lug firing pin, a large ring hammer, and the earliest type of safety. The chamber has a three-line address, with the full serial number on the left chamber flat. On the left side of the barrel extension are Crown/C/U markings and, on the right side, an antler proof. The frame is unmarked except for the full serial on the backstrap. External numbers completely match the last few digits of the serial number, including the sight bar and cursor. Disassembly shows matching numbers on the floorplate, follower, transfer bar, sear, locking block, and firing pin. Unfortunately, the grips couldn't be removed as the screw escutcheon for the threaded portion freely rotates within the hard rubber recess. Accompanied by a period-correct shoulder stock, lug number '22969,' the lid notched for the large ring and personalized with "J. RUDGE" on the hinge. Condition: Beautiful 97%-98% bright original finish, including the grip straps, with the previously mentioned altered front sight. Fire blued parts with age-appropriate speckling and sharp edge wear. Most of the original straw finish remains on the trigger. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, and the manual mechanics are perfect. The accompanying stock is in very good condition with oil darkening and scattered handling dings. The lid has a small hairline crack in front of the large ring recess and internal marring. The hinge and lug are in a generally good condition, showing no touch-up. There is minimal wobble when the stock is attached to the pistol. Overall, an exceptional early Mauser C96 Flatside, made even more desirable with its contemporaneous shoulder stock. ~~Insured shipping fee of $155; most packages shipped using FedEx 2nd Day.~~
