Description:
SOLD...Antique 1894 Saddle Ring carbine. Here is an honest and true antique 1894 SRC. S/N 35187. Absolutely in the true antique S/N range. These are very hard to find. Caliber is the ole standby 30-30. Has the standard 20" round barrel. The bore is near excellent. NO pitting with just some very light frosting. Rifling is as strong as new. No rings or bulges.. This gun shoots great. It feeds, fires and ejects perfectly. Mechanics are excellent and the action is still extremely tight like a new gun. The metal is basically a gray brown gun with some staining and some light surface crud as you can see but never cleaned on or messed with as so many of these have been.. There is some fading blue on the left side of the receiver around the saddle ring. There is NO pitting on the gun but for just a little on the front barrel band. Very minor and does not detract from the gun. Still retains the correct and original front and rear sights. The screw heads are clean and sharp with no tooling marks. The markings are all good. The wood is really nice for a SRC. The forearm has no splits or cracks and fits tight and proud to the receiver. Does not show any dents or scratches. The butt stock has no splits or cracks and fits full and proud to all the surrounding metal even at the butt plate. Hardly any dents or scratches.. The wood on this carbine is way above average of what you usually see on these. Nothing had been cleaned or sanded on and never messed with in any way. Not much else to say about this one.. This gun is as solid as new but just has no finish to speak of.. It shows very honest use but still has been very well cared for over all these years. Most all of these true antique SRC's show very heavy use and abuse.. They were very well used guns back in the day when guns were used like tools. Here is a very attractive example at a very reasonable price.. Don't miss this one.. Getting very hard to find in this S/N range. Call 765-728-8049 for more photos or any questions you may have. $50 insured shipping.
