Description:
This is a very Rare single action, shotgun type hammer 32 caliber 6 shot with a side plate on the right side. It has 5 good nipples and one is missing. The mechanical function is good plus. The barrel is marked Allen & Thurber, Worcester and Cast Steel. This is a very Rare Allen & Thurber Pepperbox pistol. This is the very first one that I have encountered nearly 50 years of collecting. This is #59. Paul Henry’s book Ethan Allen and Allen & Wheelock shows a 4 barrel hand turned single hammer pistol but no information on the 6 shot single action anywhere except in Flaydermans book and only one little paragraph. This is not the most beautiful pistol but it is sure a rare one.
