Serial #320, all matching numbers. all original and complete. Made late1840's to early 1850's. It has fine metal, factory engraving, and markings. The rare pepperbox is fully engraved. It is in .28 caliber and has the full iron shield on the barrel. it is marked on the top of the shield, "PECARE & SMITH'S/PATENT 1849. The bottom is has the serial # "320/ A.H." which is the inspector mark. All of the metal on the pistol has a nice even light patina throughout it. The original factory grips are fine throughout. The pepperbox pistol has a nice action and bore. The shield on the barrel was to stop the person being shot from grabbing the barrel and stopping the pistol from firing.
