An Early & Very Rare Civil War Factory Engraved Brass Frame Pecare & Smith Ten-Shot Pepperbox With A Silver Nipple Shield In Fine Plus Condition. Serial #4, all matching numbers. all original and complete. Made late1840's to early 1850's. The rare pepperbox is engraved as shown in the photos. It is in .28 caliber and has the silver plated brass nipple shield on the barrel. It has fine metal, brass frame, factory engraving, and markings. The barrel is marked "serial #4/ A.H." which is the inspector mark. The fine flutted barrel retains most of its original brown lacquer finish on it. The brass frame and backstrap are factory engraved with lots of their original gilt finish left on them. The original factory deluxe grips are excellent throughout with a wonderful color to them. The pepperbox pistol has a nice action and bore. This Very Rare Version Of A Pecare & Smith Pepperboxe Pistol Is The Most Sought After Of All American Pepperboxes.
