For sale is a pristine 100% NIB 2nd Generation Colt 1861 Navy. This particular pistol with its original black box, presentation case and accessories is very rare, as it is the 2nd serial number produced in the reintroduction of Colt's 2nd Generation Percussion Line of pistols in the 70's-and 80's. As the factory letter states, this pistol was first shipped to Greg Martins in 2008. Meaning it did not leave the Colt Factory for 30+ years after production. The story is Colt got into some financial trouble in the late 2000's. As a result, they took some of their finest pistols that had been held back from public sale and shipped them off to Greg Martins. This pistol, serial number 2, represents the lowest publicly known serial number, as serial number 1 is still at the Colt Factory, having not been sold off. Famed collector and author Dennis Russell wrote a lengthy pricing guide, in which this pistol is extensively documented. It reads as follows; Serial Number 40001, Lot number 1700, June 23, 2009 , Low Estimate $600, High Estimate $1,000, Realized Price $3,738.
