Description:
General Specs: Browning, Year 1965, 20 Gauge, 6lbs. 4oz., Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 3/8", DAH 2 1/4", DAC 1 9/16"
Serial Number: 36011V5
The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs. Production of the Browning Superposed was undertaken in Belgium, from 1931 through 1977 when traditional craftsmanship and production ended. The Superposed is well known in the upland world here and abroad. Here we have the venerable Browning Superposed Grade 1 Lightning in 20ga. with the most desirable LONG TANG ROUND KNOB configuration.  This 6lb. 4oz. gun (ABOUT ¼ POUND LIGHTER THAN MOST) balances perfectly on the hinge pin, sn36011V5 built in 1965, is all factory original and still retains 99% factory finish on wood and metal…it is an untouched, factory original Belgium made Browning Superposed. With this being a 1965 gun there is no need to worry about the infamous salt debacle. This Superposed was manufactured one year before the change to the short tang trigger guard and the beginning of the “salt-wood debacle”. Guns built after 1966 were prone to salt contamination and rust because of the way Browning cured their wood. Not all guns were affected, but the marketplace still has an aversion to the later guns with short tangs built from 1967 to about 1971. This gun bears factory original finishes and is in overall 99% condition. The gun is choked IC/M and has 3” chambers and a mirror bore. The gun has 99% blue remaining on its receiver with engraving is crisp and clear, near 100% blue on the barrels, and 98% blue on the trigger guard.  The gun has seen careful use and bears a few tiny field marks on its stock and the furniture shows some nice figure. The stock has the original curved butt with factory butt plate intact measuring 14 3/8” LOP. The gun has perfect wood to metal fit and excellent screws. A great lightweight, fast pointing and handy gun to take hunting and will work equally well at the club breaking clays. Thanks for looking!
