None of these accolades come as a surprise, however, as the foundation of the Citori is the Superposed, designed by John M. Browning – a man widely regarded as the most significant gun designer in history.   Although not the first over-and-under shotgun, the Superposed was the first commercially successful model. John M. Browning was a shotgun enthusiast and imagined the Superposed with the notion that a single sighting plane and single, selective trigger would prove superior to other twin-barrel shotguns of the era. In addition, it was designed to be more reliable and attainable than other over/under models. Unfortunately, Mr. Browning would not live to see the Superposed to fruition, passing away in 1926 before he could complete work on his vision.   It's a modern twist on a perennial favorite. The new Citori Composite is a direct descendant of the Superposed, retaining the strong foundation and benefiting from changes that ease manufacturing and enhance styling to meet users' evolving needs and tastes.
