Description:
For consideration is a Sako AV bolt action Mannlicher stalking style rifle in .375 H&H caliber. It's the last of the Mohicans, the great L61R push feed actions, over built and over engineered. In the mid-80s they went to CNC and Sako was never the same. The action is smooth and the trigger is good and breaks cleanly. The stock has been shortened at some point and the pad has been replaced by a thin piece of wood. A slip on leather velcro closing recoil pad could be fitted to extend the length of pull and cover up the thin piece of wood. The stock isn't original. The barrel has been shortened to a length that would drop into the aftermarket Mannlicher stock and sights added. The top of the receiver is dovetailed for Sako rings. Two crossbolts add strength and rigidity. The rifle has a checkered bolt handle and a full length extractor. The floorplate is hinged. Length of pull is currently 13 1/16". Sling attachments are front and rear. The back of the stock has some discoloration. Though not original in this configuration this rifle would make an excellent deep woods big game rifle since it is in a powerful caliber and short.....possibly an Alaskan bush rifle.
